Very Happy and grateful to the bosses Ricardo Suárez y Cristina R. Vecino. Friends and great photographers that encouraged me to present my work to this CreaVa 2020 edition, in which I will participate in their space El Carrusel - Taller de fotografía. I will be there with MIRAGES, a photopolymer gravure show from the 1st to the 18th of October. You are all invited!

EXHAUSTION AND EXUBERANCE

A GROUP EXHIBITION by Printmaking artist

DEPTFORD does ART LONDON

GROUP STATEMENT:

This exhibition presents a heterogeneous sample of contemporary printmaking practice by a group of artist brought together by their shared dedication to the medium. The works showcased have been developed in the same studio, a common space that has encouraged the exchange of ideas and awareness of each other’s practice, enriching individual approaches. These circumstances of making side-by-side underline the dialogue and diversity across our work, our particular uses of the languages of print com-prising a ‘syntax of the print’, like a collection of voices speaking in the same tongue.

Our professional involvement in the world of contemporary editions and our experience with the vast array of printmaking techniques has enabled us to develop individual visual discourses that explore the nature of print in the digital age. In the face of digital reproduction, we choose to put printmaking at the centre of our practice, engaging with traditional methods as well as exploring what new technologies can bring to the field, such as photosensitive materials and the photographic image.

The proliferation and bombardment of the instantaneous digital image today stands in stark contrast with the textile qualities, the craftsmanship and the physical materiality of the original print. As artist printmakers we share a passion for technical experimentation, exploring the boundaries of printmaking and the possibilities that the multiple work on paper has to offer.

This exhibition aims to reflect on the printed matter in its own right, expanding and combining the traditional with new technologies. The figurative and the abstract; it showcases a broad range of techniques including woodblock, lithography, etching, screen-printing, mono-print and photopolymer.

The title for this show has been taken from Jan Verwoert’s Exhaustion and Exuberance: Ways to Defy the Pressure to Perform, and emphasises the doubling of our lives as artist and printers. We simultaneously embody the intensive labour involved in the production of the multiple artwork and the sheer enjoyment of making for ourselves.

Internship at JEALOUS PRINT STUDIO.

It's already two months that I am working as intern

in this Londoner studio, specialized in

Screenprinting and Digital Print.

During the first weeks the whole team was immersed in the challenging work of Jacky Tsai, contemporary chinese artist. Jacky allowed us to improvise on the background part of their huge wood monoprints, whose measures demanded the team to set up a specific screen for this work.

Hace ya dos meses que estoy trabajando como interna en este estudio londinense, especializado en
Serigrafía y Grabado Digital.

Durante las primeras semanas el equipo al completo estuvimos inmersos en el desafiante trabajo
de Jacky Tsai, artista contemporáneo chino. Jacky nos permitió improvisar sobre los fondos de sus gigantes monotipos de madera, cuyas medidas exigieron al equipo la construcción de una pantalla específica para este trabajo.

GOLD LEAF // HOJA DE ORO

At the studio I had the opportunity to learn

the Gold Leaf technique, used to create entire shapes or backgrounds of prints.

We can find interesting effects if we use a kind of thicker ink to create relief patterns, and then we place the gold leafs over them.

En el estudio tuve la oportunidad se aprender la técnica del Pan de Oro, utilizada para crear formas o fondos de en la obra gráfica.

Podemos encontrar interesantes efectos utilizando un tipo de tinta más densa para crear motivos en relieve, y después colocamos el oro encima.

INK SPOT PRESS - Brighton

This Monday I've been visiting Brighton, with the main objective to know more print workshops. This time I had the opportunity to meet Jane Sampson, founder of Ink Spot Press. After give me some advises about photo-etching facilities, she show me some of her amazing works on Screen printing. I was quit surprised discovering such a many possibilities that screen printing can offer. However, I recognize that technique is not everything. You really need to have a great creative talent. But sometimes, you only realize when you find a true artist.

Este Lunes he estado visitando Brighton, con el objetivo principal de conocer más talleres de impresión. En esta ocasión tuve la oportunidad de conocer a Jane Sampson, fundadora de Ink spot Press. Después de darme algunos consejos sobre instalaciones donde ejercer fotograbado, me enseño algunos de sus increíbles trabajos en serigrafía. Estaba bastante sorprendida descubriendo la cantidad de posibilidades que puede ofrecer. Sin embargo, reconozco que la técnica no lo es todo. Realmente necesitas tener un gran talento creativo, pero algunas veces sólo te das cuenta cuando encuentras a un verdadero artista.

I could experiment other way to work. In this case using Photrak. It's a light sensitive coatching that is quite easy to apply, acid resistant, and it can achieve very fine detail and halftones.
